Company Profile

ANBAS (Autonomic Nerve BAsed Science) Corporation is established on April 2007. The aim of this company is to do entrusted studies revealing functions of functional foods, pharmaceutical products, aroma goods, massage oils, skin application products and music by determining changes in activities of autonomic nerves innervating individual organs/tissues after administrations of them in urethane-anesthetized rats or mice. For examples, they are given per os, to stomach, to intestine, intravenously, by skin application, olfactory stimulation, acoustic stimulation, etc. Orders of entrusted studies come from companies of foods, beverages, drugs and home products, in order to examine functions of the products. Sometimes, orders of entrusted studies come from Universities’ laboratory.
The another aim is to develop products such as functional foods, aroma sprays, massage oils, shampoo, conditioner and scalp lotion by determining changes in autonomic nerve activities of each organs/tissues induced by organic raw materials or essential oils. For this activity, ANBAS Co. has an collaboration agreement with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), which is one of National Institutes of Thailand. This company so far developed following products, 1) food supplements showing anti-diabetes effect, anti-hypertension effect and immunity-facilitating effect in animal experiments, 2) massage oils showing immunity-facilitating effect and muscle blood flow stimulating effect in animal experiments, 3) aroma sprays showing relaxing effect, anti-hypertension effect, anti-diabetes effect, immunity-facilitating effect and cosmetic effect in animal experiments, 4) a shampoo, a conditioner and a scalp lotion showing skin blood flow-elevating effect (thus increasing water-retaining ability and good for hair growth) in animal experiments.

(ANBAS’s Technology)
Autonomic nervous system and endocrine system collaboratively function to maintain homeostasis of important physiological phenomena such as body temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose etc in our body. Therefore, if changes of autonomic nerve activity of each organ and tissue after administrations of foods and drugs, olfactory stimulation with scent of essential oils, and skin application of drugs and cosmetics are determined, directions of changes in physiological functions are revealed. Therefore, ANBAS Co. is able to determine changes in autonomic nerve activities in urethane-anesthetized rats and mice, which are able to respond to these manipulations, using an electrophysiological method and can suggest functions of foods, drugs, aroma oils, massage oils, cosmetics, taste and even music. In addition to electrophysiological determination, ANBAS Co. can determine changes in the blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure, body temperature, tumor proliferation in athymic nude mice, cutaneous blood flow, transepidermal water loss and locomotive behavior activity after the above manipulations.

(Main entrusted study)
In order to evaluate functions of foods, drugs, beverages, aroma oils, medicinal herbs, natural products, cosmetics, music and taste, changes in related autonomic activity to the expected function are determined after giving above things by an electrophysiological method (Tanida et al. Am. J. Physiol. 288: R447-R455, 2005). This method can give not only the function of the product but also the mechanism of function.

The relationship between changes in autonomic nerve activities and those of functions are shown -Table 1(PDF)

Step 1, Screening function of a product
Cost and due date of the screening:
Determination of the change in autonomic nerve activity
Fee: 1 substance x 1 nerve activity determination using each 3 rats (control group and the experimental group) x 1 administration rout = 750,000JPY.
Delivery term; approx. 2-3weeks

Step 2, Identification of Active Ingredient
After succeeding to detect functions in the sample, you can try to identify its active ingredient by using our electrophysiological determination and fractionation using such as HPLC. If we can detect the activity in a fraction, after identifying the constituents of the fraction. It is possible to use the constituents to identify active ingredient(s) among the constituents.
Cost and due date: Please contact us! (e-mail;
*You may also fractionate substances by yourself.
